Nvidia CEO Rejects US-China Decoupling Stance

(MENAFN) Jensen Huang, the chief executive of American technology powerhouse Nvidia, has argued that the notion of the United States severing ties with China is misguided.

He emphasized that the economic and technological interconnections between Washington and Beijing are far more extensive than commonly assumed.

His remarks come as the two largest global economies remain entangled in ongoing disputes. US officials have frequently accused China of unfair conduct, including intellectual property violations and coerced technology transfers. In response, Beijing has condemned American export restrictions, claiming they politicize commerce, destabilize supply chains, and negatively affect all parties involved.

“The idea that floated around about US decoupling from China, I think, is flawed, and our dependency on each other is quite significant and it’s deeper than people think,” Huang stated in a video interview with a media outlet earlier this week.

The Nvidia executive also underscored the reliance of the artificial intelligence industry on “the brilliant students and the brilliant scientists of China,” noting that half of the world’s AI researchers are either from China or of Chinese heritage.

In September, the US Department of Commerce added 32 foreign entities to its trade blacklist, including 23 Chinese companies. Among them were firms accused of using American equipment to produce semiconductors for SMIC, China’s leading chip manufacturer.

Washington claimed these companies were undermining fair trade and threatening national security. Beijing firmly rejected the sanctions, labeling them an abuse of export controls. In retaliation, Chinese authorities initiated anti-dumping and anti-discrimination probes into US chip policies.
