The probe is being conducted by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission, according to reports.
Wang, 63, was appointed Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Emergency Management in July 2022 and became minister in September. He has a long career in both the coal industry and government, beginning his professional path after graduating and rising to key positions in Hubei province.
A native of Hubei, Wang was appointed in 2017 to the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China Hubei Provincial Committee and served as Secretary of its Political and Legal Affairs Commission.
Earlier this week, Sun Shaocheng, vice director of the Social Development Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress, was also reported to be under disciplinary and supervisory investigation “for suspected severe violations of disciplines and laws.”
