Honda to End Car Sales in South Korea by 2026
In its official statement, Honda explained that it will gradually shut down the car sales activities of Honda Korea, its Seoul-based subsidiary. This move is part of a broader strategy to adjust to evolving conditions in both the global automotive industry and the South Korean market.
The company further stated that the decision came after a strategic evaluation focused on reallocating corporate resources to enhance its long-term and mid-term competitiveness. At the same time, Honda emphasized that it will keep offering after-sales support for current vehicle owners, including servicing, spare parts provision, and warranty assistance.
Additionally, Honda noted that Honda Korea will continue operating its motorcycle business as its primary focus in the country. The company also plans to grow this segment by improving its product lineup and upgrading customer experience. Honda has been active in South Korea’s motorcycle market since 2002 and officially entered the automobile sector in 2004.
