China Deploys Medical Team to DR Congo Amid Ebola Emergency

(MENAFN) China has dispatched a team of medical specialists to the Democratic Republic of the Congo to assist in efforts to contain an Ebola outbreak that the World Health Organization has classified as a public health emergency of international concern, according to reports.

State-run media said the team left Beijing early Tuesday morning and will coordinate with Chinese medical staff already present in the country, as well as with local health officials and disease control authorities.

The experts are described as having significant experience in managing epidemic situations. They are expected to contribute to Ebola prevention and treatment efforts, deliver training for healthcare workers, and provide support for Chinese citizens and organizations operating in the region.

The mission will also aim to strengthen the country’s overall capacity for detecting, preventing, and responding to Ebola cases.
