Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Wu Guangrong Pays a Courtesy Call on Ugandan Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja

On 26 August, Ambassador Wu Guangrong paid a courtesy call on the Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, Prime Minister of Uganda, upon assuming office. Minister Counsellor Fan Xuecheng was present.

Ambassador Wu said that the Yangtze and the Nile converge into the ocean; the hearts of the two peoples align in their pursuit of development. Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, the China-Uganda comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership has moved steadily forward. The four global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping, including the Global Governance Initiative, have met with enthusiastic response across the Global South. China looks forward to further joining hands with Uganda to advance a community with a shared future for humanity. China's zero-tariff policy is yielding visible results in boosting Uganda's exports to China, and is believed to bring greater benefits to the peoples of both nations.

Prime Minister Nabbanja welcomed Ambassador Wu to his new post and said that China has always been a sincere and reliable friend of Uganda. She expressed appreciation for Chinese enterprises investing and doing business in Uganda, contributing to taxes and employment in Uganda. Uganda stands ready to consolidate political mutual trust with China, make good use of the zero-tariff policy, and attract more Chinese enterprises to participate in its industrialization. President Xi Jinping's Global Governance Initiative demonstrates profound foresight. Uganda is ready to join hands with the Chinese side to uphold the shared interests of the Global South.
