Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming Hands over Emergency Flood Relief Cash Aids to Finance Minister of Nepal Swarnim Wagle

On August 30, 2026, H, .E. Mr. Zhang Maoming, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Nepal, met with Hon. Dr. Swarnim Wagle, Minister of Finance of Nepal, and handed over USD 2 million in emergency flood relief assistance provided by the Chinese Government to the Government of Nepal, along with USD 200,000 from the Red Cross Society of China to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund of Nepal.

Ambassador Zhang Maoming stated that the pressing task for Nepal and China is to tackle the mudslide disaster. Chinese leaders extend deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the Government and people of Nepal, standing ready to work hand in hand with Nepal to jointly overcome the difficulties. In addition to providing cash assistance, China has continued to provide support to the disaster-hit areas through Chinese tunnel rescue teams, and the first batch of relief supplies has also arrived in Nepal. The Chinese side has also been providing Nepal with disaster−area imagery, hydrological and meteorological information and other support.

On behalf of the Government of Nepal, Hon. Dr. Swarnim Wagle expressed heartfelt gratitude for China’s generous assistance, speaking highly of the profound friendship demonstrated by both nations during difficult times. He affirmed that Nepal would make full use of the aid, spare no effort to rescue people stranded in disaster areas of Nepal, and looks forward to close bilateral cooperation in post-disaster planning and reconstruction.
