Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua Attends the Opening Ceremony of the Second Maldivian Physiotherapy Symposium

On September 6, Chinese Ambassador to Maldives H.E. Kong Xianhua was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the Second Maldivian Physiotherapy Symposium. Chief Executive Officer of the Malé City Group of Hospitals Mr. Haleem, the Medical Director of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, and dozens of healthcare professionals from the Maldives attended the event. As the guest of honor, Ambassador Kong delivered remarks at the opening ceremony.

Ambassador Kong said that physiotherapy and cardiac rehabilitation help patients recover and resume their daily lives, and China has accumulated extensive practical experience in these fields. Health is a shared aspiration of the peoples of China and the Maldives and an important part of the friendly cooperation between the two countries. In recent years, China-Maldives cooperation in the health sector has achieved a series of positive outcomes. The China-Maldives Ophthalmology Center was officially put into operation at Hulhumalé Hospital, construction of the China-Maldives Friendship Hospital will commence this year, and exchanges between medical professionals of China and the Maldives have continued to deepen. Looking ahead, China is ready to continue working with the Maldives to strengthen cooperation in the health sector, expand the scope for cooperation in such areas as rehabilitation medicine, medical personnel training and professional exchanges, and bring greater benefits to the Maldivian people.
