SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE, September 18, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- SAFETYCAR, the Singapore-headquartered automotive fire suppression specialist, has launched the SAFETYCAR® EV Automatic Fire Suppression System [PROFESSIONAL], extending its automatic vehicle fire protection technology to electric vehicles.

SAFETYCAR has also appointed Tuff Clad Pte Ltd, a member of the Tuffi Group of Companies, as the exclusive Singapore distributor for its EV product line, bringing together SAFETYCAR's automotive fire suppression technology with one of Singapore's longest-established automotive protection companies.
On 9 September 2026, Tuffi hosted an industry introduction session where automotive industry participants were introduced to the new SAFETYCAR EV system, saw the system professionally installed in an electric vehicle and learned first-hand how the technology works.

The SAFETYCAR EV [PROFESSIONAL] is designed to suppress fires involving key low-voltage electrical systems and electronic components within the front service compartments and frunks of electric vehicles, providing automatic localised fire suppression that can help prevent fire from spreading to the vehicle's high-voltage traction battery.

In most electric vehicles, the front service compartment contains key systems including the 12V auxiliary battery, electrical wiring and connectors, fuse and relay boxes, power distribution components, charging-system equipment and electronic control modules. Overheating components, damaged wiring and electrical short circuits can start fires within these confined areas.

The 2.5-metre tube holds the correct volume of SCL25™ Clean Agent for fire suppression within the protected EV front compartment, while providing sufficient length to be routed around the electrical and electronic components requiring protection.

The system requires no electronic sensors, batteries, external power or connection to the vehicle's electrical system.

When exposed to heat from a fire, the tube activates at 120°C, opening at the hottest point and releasing SCL25 Clean Agent into the affected area. The agent rapidly suppresses the fire while leaving no powder, foam or damaging residue on sensitive electrical and electronic equipment.

Because the system operates independently of the vehicle and requires no manual intervention, it remains continuously ready to respond while the electric vehicle is being driven, parked, charging or unattended. It has a rated service life of five years.

“Electric vehicles may not have a conventional engine bay, but their front service compartments contain many of the vehicle's key low-voltage electrical systems and electronic modules. Overheating components, damaged wiring and electrical short circuits can all start fires in these areas.

We developed SAFETYCAR EV [PROFESSIONAL] to automatically suppress a fire where it starts, before it has the opportunity to escalate and threaten other parts of the vehicle. It provides an additional layer of automatic fire protection around critical electrical systems at the front of an EV without requiring any connection to the vehicle's electrical system. Tuffi is the right partner to bring the EV range to Singapore motorists.”
— John Lee, Founder, SAFETYCAR

The SAFETYCAR EV system protects the low-voltage electrical systems and electronic equipment located within the front service compartment. It is not installed inside or directly onto the sealed high-voltage traction battery and is not designed to extinguish thermal runaway occurring within the traction battery itself.

Instead, it provides a first line of automatic fire protection, suppressing fires originating around the auxiliary battery, wiring, power distribution systems and electronic equipment before they can develop into a larger vehicle fire. Suppressing the originating fire can also help limit heat transfer and reduce the risk of fire spreading toward the vehicle's high-voltage traction battery.

The EV system joins the existing SAFETYCAR Automatic Fire Suppression System [PROFESSIONAL], developed for the engine compartments of petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles. SAFETYCAR systems already protect thousands of vehicles worldwide, including passenger vehicles, classic and vintage automobiles and high-performance cars.

Tuffi is the exclusive Singapore distributor for SAFETYCAR's EV product line.
With more than 50 years of experience in automotive protection and car care, Tuffi serves vehicle owners, automotive companies and fleet operators in Singapore.

“Tuffi has spent more than 50 years helping Singapore motorists protect and preserve their vehicles, and electric vehicles represent the next generation of that responsibility.

Since our appointment as SAFETYCAR's exclusive Singapore distributor for the EV range, we have begun introducing the system to the local automotive industry. At our 9 September session, participants were able to see the SAFETYCAR EV system installed by our team of professional installers and learn first-hand how the system works. We believe automatic fire suppression provides an important additional layer of protection for electric vehicles in Singapore.”
— Shu Yi Mei, Director, Tuff Clad Pte Ltd

The SAFETYCAR EV Automatic Fire Suppression System [PROFESSIONAL] is effective against Class A, Class B, Class C and electrical fires. It requires no connection to the vehicle's electrical system and carries the SAFETYCAR Lifetime Warranty throughout its five-year rated service life.
