Chargé d’affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Fiji Wang Yuan Attends the Opening Ceremony of Agricultural Training Program for Fiji

From September 7 to 14, China-Pacific Island Countries Poverty Alleviation and Cooperative Development Center successfully held an agricultural training program for Fiji. Chargé d’affaires a.i. Wang Yuan of the Chinese Embassy in Fiji attended the opening ceremony of the program. Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development Mitieli Cama and Deputy Secretary for Ministry of Agriculture Tekini Nakidakida of Fiji, among others, attended relevant events.

Wang Yuan noted that the program is a concrete step of acting on the important common understanding reached by the leaders of China and Fiji to deepen interactions in agriculture. He expressed the hope that the trainees will put into use what they learn to help more Fijians alleviate poverty and increase incomes, and further boost sound growth of China-Fiji relations. The Fijian side extended warm welcome to the Chinese experts, thanked China for providing training for Fijian agricultural practitioners, and expressed the hope that the two sides will strengthen practical cooperation in agriculture and other fields.

Held in Suva, Sigatoka, Nadi and other places, the program was implemented by Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University and focused on breeding, pest prevention and control, and processing of crops. Covering nearly 300 trainees, the program has been widely and well received.
