Chinese Ambassador to Cyprus Yang Yundong Meets with UNHCR Representative to Cyprus Leslie Esther Velez
On 16 September 2026, Ambassador of China to Cyprus Yang Yundong met with Ms. Leslie Esther Velez, Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Cyprus.
Ambassador Yang noted that the Chinese side has all along supported the UN humanitarian cause; it stands ready to step up communication with UNHCR Cyprus, and support efforts for the settlement of refugee problems.
Representative Velez elaborated on the work of UNHCR Cyprus, commended China’s active support for multilateral affairs, and expressed willingness to maintain communication and exchanges with the Chinese side.
