Chinese Ambassador to Cyprus Yang Yundong Attends the 2026 NACA - CyI Joint Workshop: Talks on Archaeological Science
On September 15, 2026, Ambassador of China to Cyprus Yang Yundong attended the 2026 NACA - CyI Joint Workshop:Talks on Archaeological Science, which was co-organized by the Cyprus Institute and National Centre for Archaeology of China. Deputy Minister of Culture of Cyprus Dr. Clea Hadjistephanou Papaellina, President of the Cyprus Institute Professor Stavros Malas, Director of the Department of Antiquities Dr. Giorgos Georgiou, Vice Director of the National Centre for Archaeology of China Mr Zhang Zhiguo, experts and scholars from the two countries also participated in the event.

Ambassador Yang congratulated the successful convening of the workshop, and expounded on the core concepts of the Global Civilization Initiative. He expressed active support for the two sides to deepen cooperation, strengthen mutual learning among civilizations, promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and contribute to the development of bilateral ties.
Deputy Minister Papaellina spoke highly of cultural exchanges between the two countries. She expressed the hope that teams from the two sides will work together to further explore the profound meaning of both civilizations, strengthen cultural heritage protection, and help enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples.
